You probably are not 100% yet, but I hope you are starting to get some thoughts together.
Put your music set ideas in the comments section of this post. I am going to draw one blessed (christianese for lucky) winner and they will receive some free music from Carlos Whittaker on Itunes – Jesus Saves should be on your Easter list BTW.

At Seacoast we have been #planningeaster for a few weeks now. We had our first really big creative meeting to nail down some ideas about three weeks ago. With 13 campuses we will have worship sets that look a lot different (at least in song choice) but as one church we wanted to have some shared elements that would tie it all together. So we came up with three ideas that I think are worth sharing:
1. Big Opener. We are working on a big opener that goes away from the “cover song” but instead is a part of worship (and also speaks to first time guests and those far from God). That is a hard mix to get. So we are writing an original rap/spoken word that will have some very building loop music that segways into the first song of worship. It will be complimented by some fantastic motion graphics and video as well as the loop will provide the spoken word and some instruments but there will be some opportunities foe musicians to be added at campuses as well as a singer…we hope it bridges that gap…
2. Art. We have experimented in the past with art during worship and art during speaking, but never to the extent we will this year as we will have a painting created during the message that will tell the story of easter visually and then as people leave we plan on giving them a very small copy of that painting as a reminder….
3. Worship mash-up ending song. At Seacoast we do two “celebration” songs up front and then have a time of response after the message that is led by 3 songs (usually low, medium, high tempo arc) – as the last song we are planning on a worship mash-up of the top 3-4 songs done at our campuses. It will be high energy and again stay with the value of worship for us while still speaking the language of the first time people (energy and fun)
Hope this helps.
List not complete yet, but Death in His Grave by John Mark McMillan is on it.
Opening: Not sure yet
God is Alive (Kirkland and Fee) w/ Let God Arise (Tomlin)
Glory to God (Fee and Beeching)
Stronger (Fielding and Morgan)
It’s Your Love (Fields)
Still thinking through creative elements
Okay, while it’s not totally original, it IS powerful…we’re looking to start the service Catalyst ‘09 style with:
Hallelujah
(a killer opening video)
Revelation song
the worship set is:
Glory to God Forever (w/ Igniter)
The Stand
Beautiful Jesus
And closing with the new version of God is Alive (with a cool kinetic typography video our team is currently producing).
We’ve got some cool effects planned to go with the opening (stuff like projecting video onto a scrim that spans the width of the front of the stage that later drops to the floor–during Revelation Song). Still have a lot of work to do but the basic plan is set. And we’re totally stoked about Easter. The challenge for us is doing 6 services at three locations. This is our first Easter with multi-sites. Huge challenge…but great fun, too.
Opener – Hallelujah (Wainwright)
Worship Set – Glory to God Forever (Fee)
The Stand (United)
Beautiful Jesus (Stanfill)
Closer – God is Alive (Fee)
Whoops! I almost forgot …
We’re also gonna use Revelation Song (Jobe) as a special with a chalk-art piece.
Not sure how I missed that little gem.
Apparently my image won’t show. http://chrismartinsblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/screen-shot-2010-02-25-at-7-52-19-am.jpg.
My set is:
Blessed Be Your Name (Redman)
Come Thou Fount (in 5/4 time)
How Great Is Our God (Tomlin)
Sermon
The Wonderful Cross (Watts)
Risen From The Grave (Original)
Jesus Paid It All (Stanfill Version)
God Is Alive
Salvation Is Here
Jesus Messiah
Special: You Found Me (The Fray)
Message on God meeting us in our doubts
Special: What If (Nordeman)
Happy Day
1. Let God Arise – Tomlin
2. Not sure yet
3. True Love – Phil Wickham
4. Lead Me to the Cross – Brooke Fraser/Hillsong
Still not sure about any additional creative elements. Still bouncing ideas around.
John Bunn totally snaked my service order! JK … he’s my boss.
We’ve been planing it for a bit, but the final song list isn’t quite complete. However we will be doing the following songs on either Good Friday or Easter Sunday:
Jesus Messiah
Blessed Redeemer (Casting Crowns)
Lead Me To The Cross
Nothing But The Blood (Matt Redman)
My Savior, My God
All Because Of Jesus
Today Is The Day
Glorious Day
Marvelous Light
It’s looking to be a fun weekend
What I’m wanting us to do is sing Third Day’s “Love Song” set to a video I’ll probably put together of Passion clips.
Also to kick off easter weekend we are planning a Good Friday service…I’m pretty sure no other campus in our system is doing one that I know of…
And week prior we are doing a 20,000 easter egg hunt that will go off during 4 services that Sunday….
Not sure of our total music set yet.
So I’m not currently leading worship at a church right now, but if I could pick the Easter set list it would include:
Oh You Bring – Hillsong United
With Everything – Hillsong United
Hallelujah – Ben Cantelon
I Will Go – Starfield
OK. I’m not a muso. give me a pencil I can show you how we are branding it.
But if the song choice were down to me (which you don’t want it to be) I’d pick:
Amazing Grace: Accapello unplugged in a minor kinda key
He’s the Alpha & Omega – just cos I saw Alvin Slaughter Live and he’s got game.
Oh Happy Day. – cos’ I could clap and you wouldnt hear me sing.
Refrain of Amazing Grace to finish off.
Here at brandnewchurch.com we are rock a series called P.S. 23 (psalm 23)
Lead me to the cross
Make you feel my love-Adele (w/ passion video) SO POWERFUL!!!
Power of the cross- free chapel (slamming out huge song)
Awakening-Passion 2010
sons and daughters- fellowship church (huge big favorite of them all)
Maybe- Wonderful world- acoustic and harmonica
Working on a medley of sorts with All Because of Jesus and Jesus is Just Alright. Now if only what’s in my head can translate to my team!
Other songs, Lead Me to the Cross, True Love, Salvation is Here, You Hold Me Now, and Mystery.
We will have one drama depicting the idea that Jesus came off the cross via OneTimeBlind’s video ‘I Am Alive’ and a man on the street video with area skeptics and there trouble with the resurrection.
Yep, that’s our start.
we have a rehearsal tonight…where we review the list…but this is what we’re thinking so far…
the time has come – united
i’ll always love you – phil wickham
the old rugged cross
adore – ben ghormley (one of our guys)
it’s your love – hillsong
